Alma…Himself, Could Not Rest – Alma 43:1

1 And now it came to pass that the sons of Alma did go forth among the people, to declare the word unto them. And Alma, also, himself, could not rest, and he also went forth.
(Alma 43:1)

I enjoy working on projects and goals that I am passionate about. I appreciate the energy I feel when I value a cause more than sleep or relaxation and when I continually want to work on it.

As Mormon relates in the verse above, Alma felt that kind of passion about preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. A few chapters earlier, we learn that Alma was saddened by the unwillingness of many people to respond to his teaching. He gathered his sons to give them guidance and to encourage them to continue to teach. Then, he went back to work himself, because he “could not rest.”
Today, I will follow Alma’s example of enthusiastic diligence. I will share my passion for the gospel with others. I will contribute to building the kingdom of God because I have felt the joy that comes with service, and I want to continue to feel that joy.
