To Be Industrious – 2 Nephi 5:17

17 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did cause my people to be industrious, and to labor with their hands.

This week, I’m studying the attribute of diligence.
In 2 Nephi 5, we learn what the people of Nephi did in order to “live after the manner of happiness” (verse 27). They planted crops (verse 11), created weapons to defend themselves (verse 14), and constructed buildings including a temple (verses 15-16). I conclude that their happiness derived largely from the fact that they were busy and were accomplishing worthy goals. This rings true to me: I am happiest when I am productive.
Today, I will set worthy goals and will discipline myself to stay busy working to accomplish those goals.
