9 And it came to pass that they did rejoice exceedingly, and did offer sacrifice and burnt offerings unto the Lord; and they gave thanks unto the God of Israel.
Lehi was excited to read the brass plates and understand what was in them. After all, the Lord had commanded him to put his sons in danger to obtain them, and he had endured severe criticism from his wife for doing so. But when the plates arrived, he first spent time with his family, rejoicing and thanking the Lord for sparing their lives. Only after spending appropriate family time did he get to work on reviewing the plates.
I am a very goal-oriented person, and I could imagine myself going off and reading the plates first instead of focusing on the relationships first and the task second. Today, I will pay attention to the people around me and my relationship with them. I will prioritize people over the things I want to accomplish today.
