The insurrection is basically over, but Mormon wants to emphasize an important lesson from this tragic event. The Lamanites were easily distinguishable from the Nephites, and the Amlicites wanted to distinguish themselves as well, so they marked their foreheads in red. Mormon says there’s a lesson here: Everyone who is cursed brings that curse upon himself or herself. The choice is ours.
