How Be It That Ye Have Not Written This Thing – 3 Nephi 23:11-13

11 And Jesus said unto them: How be it that ye have not written this thing, that many saints did arise and appear unto many and did minister unto them?
12 And it came to pass that Nephi remembered that this thing had not been written.
13 And it came to pass that Jesus commanded that it should be written; therefore it was written according as he commanded.
One way to recognize the hand of the Lord in our lives is to keep a journal. Taking the time to write about our experiences can make us more aware of the blessings we receive and can open our eyes to miracles that we might not otherwise have recognized.
Henry B. Eyring learned this lesson by faithfully keeping a daily journal for many years:

Before I would write, I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?” As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done (“O Remember, Remember,” General Conference, October 2007).

Today, as I write in my journal, I will take the time to ask the same question: “How has the Lord blessed me today.” I will remember the admonition of Jesus to the Nephites, and I will make a record of His blessings in my life.
