That My Family Should Partake – 1 Nephi 8:11-12

11 And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the fruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen.
12 And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit.
In Lehi’s dream, as soon as he finds the fruit and is filled with joy, his first thought is to share it with his family. His sense of devotion and dedication as a husband and father is strong, and his desire for the happiness of his wife and children is instinctive. He tells us in the following verses that he looked for them, he motioned to them, and he called to them in a loud voice. To his great joy, some of them came, but to his sorrow, some of them refused to come.
Today, I will emulate Lehi’s dedication to his family. I will remember family members in my prayers and will do what I can to invite and encourage them to do the things which will lead to their happiness and peace.
