We Have a Labor to Perform – Moroni 9:6

6 And now, my beloved son, notwithstanding their hardness, let us labor diligently; for if we should cease to labor, we should be brought under condemnation; for we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God.
(Moroni 9:6)

I see two important principles in these words of advice from the prophet Mormon to his son Moroni:

  1. Time is precious. Don’t waste it. There is work that we need to do while we are in this mortal life, and we are accountable for completing it.
  2. Even if the work doesn’t seem to be accomplishing its purpose, it may be accomplishing a greater purpose: the sanctification of our souls. Don’t discount the life-changing power of laboring diligently in the work of the Lord.
Today, I will use my time wisely and will focus on accomplishing the important work of the day, in all areas of my life. I will remember that I grow and develop through the work I do, and that laboring diligently in the kingdom of God is part of my spiritual preparation for returning to His presence.
