4 And after this manner did they ordain priests and teachers, according to the gifts and callings of God unto men; and they ordained them by the power of the Holy Ghost, which was in them.
Moroni reminds us in this verse that we cannot fulfill priesthood responsibilities alone. Since priesthood is the power and authority to do God’s work, it follows that we need God’s help to do that work effectively. In our church service, we should follow this admonition from Henry B. Eyring:
Let us do whatever is required to qualify for the Holy Ghost as our companion, and then let us go forward fearlessly so that we will be given the powers to do whatever the Lord calls us to do (“Serve with the Spirit,” General Conference, October 2010).
As I fulfill my priesthood responsibilities this week, especially in my home, I will seek the guidance and companionship of the Holy Ghost. I will remember that priesthood service is God’s work and that I need His help in order to do it appropriately and effectively.
