Helaman 4:13 They Were Left in Their Own Strength

13 And because of this their great wickedness, and their boastings in their own strength, they were left in their own strength; therefore they did not prosper, but were afflicted and smitten, and driven before the Lamanites, until they had lost possession of almost all their lands.
(Helaman 4:13)
The punishment is fitting and ironic: if you boast about how amazing you are, about what you can do on your own, you may actually be left on your own.  When you see how little you are able to accomplish without divine assistance, you may realize how wrong you were to claim full credit for your former accomplishments.
