Mosiah 24:15 They Did Submit Cheerfully and With Patience

And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord. (Mosiah 24:15)

Note the following:
1. The immediate consequence of Alma & his people praying was increased persecution.  We cannot expect that short-term consequences are always consistent with the goodness of our actions.
2. Even though they could no longer pray aloud, they continued to pray in their hearts.  This may have had the impact of increasing the frequency and intensity of their prayers.  In any event, it strengthened their resolve.
3. Even though the Lord didn’t answer their exact prayer to be rescued from bondage, he did ease their burdens.  Therefore, they did receive a partial answer and blessing, even in the short run.
4. They not only submitted “with patience,” but also “cheerfully” to the will of the Lord.  The Lord was trying their not only their patience but also their faith.
