Ether 14 – Gilead, Lib and Shiz Fight Coriantumr

Ether 13Ether 15

As the Jaredite civilization crumbles, they reach the point where they can’t trust anybody. Just like the Nephites in the time of Mormon, the Jaredites find that if they don’t guard their possessions closely and constantly, they lose them.

Shared’s brother Gilead continues the battle, and even manages to gain the throne, but he is soon assassinated, and Lib takes command. Lib fights the armies of Coriantumr and is defeated and killed. Lib’s brother Shiz takes over and wreaks havoc across the land.

Chapter Outline

  1. Shared’s brother Gilead takes the throne and is assassinated (v. 1-9)
  2. Coriantumr defeats Lib (v. 10-16)
  3. Coriantumr fights Lib’s brother Shiz (v. 17-31)

My Takeaways

  1. Don’t be myopic. Think about the long-term consequences of your actions instead of focusing on the immediate desire for victory.
  2. A strong sense of community is essential for our collective prosperity and safety
