The Prince of Peace

In situations that are highly charged and filled with contention, I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would. As we follow the Prince of Peace, we will become His peacemakers.

President Russell M. Nelson, “Peacemakers Wanted,” General Conference, April 2023

As he prophesied of the Savior, Isaiah described Him using a series of names:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

2 Nephi 19:6, Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah went on to prophesy that there would be no end to the peace that the Savior would establish. (See 2 Nephi 19:7, Isaiah 9:7.)

Jesus was and is the Prince of Peace. At the end of His life, He offered the following reassurance to His disciples:

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

President Nelson said:

We are followers of the Prince of Peace. Now more than ever, we need the peace only He can bring. How can we expect peace to exist in the world when we are not individually seeking peace and harmony? Brothers and sisters, I know what I’m suggesting is not easy. But followers of Jesus Christ should set the example for all the world to follow. I plead with you to do all you can to end personal conflicts that are currently raging in your hearts and in your lives.

Spiritual Momentum,” General Conference, April 2022

Today, I will seek for the peace of Christ in my own heart and in my relationships. I will strive to set an example of peacemaking and to act as the Savior would act if He were here.

  1. Suggest we all follow the new church program in groups either online or in person called Healing through the Saviour.

    1. This is a fantastic program. I don’t know if it’s been updated, but a few years ago, I did the program on my own as part of my personal scripture study, and I found it to be an excellent way to apply gospel principles and invite the power of the Savior’s atonement into my life. Thanks for the recommendation!
