The final scene in the book of Revelation is an image of abundance and munificence. John sees a river of pure water pouring from God’s throne. Straddling the river, he sees the tree of life, abounding with fruit. There is no need for candles there, or even the sun, “for the Lord God giveth them light” (Revelation 22:1-5). Everything we need is available there in plentiful supply.
After sharing the Savior’s promise to “come quickly” (Revelation 22:7, 12, 20), John invites us all to come to Him:
The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Revelation 22:17
Alma characterized the Savior’s invitation to the people of Zarahemla in the same way:
Come unto me and ye shall partake of the fruit of the tree of life; yea, ye shall eat and drink of the bread and the waters of life freely.
Alma 5:34
And he later reiterated this same principle to his son Corianton:
Whosoever will come may come and partake of the waters of life freely.
Alma 42:27
Today, I will be grateful for the abundant blessings God offers His children. I will accept His invitation to come and partake of the goodness He offers freely to all of us.
