Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf has shared the following words of advice:
I learned in my life that we don’t need to be “more” of anything to start to become the person God intended us to become.
God will take you as you are at this very moment and begin to work with you. All you need is a willing heart, a desire to believe, and trust in the Lord.
“It Works Wonderfully,” General Conference, October 2015
He gave the example of Gideon, a young man who labeled himself as “the least in my father’s house.” But the Lord saw him differently. Even before he led the Israelites to victory in battle, God referred to Gideon as a “mighty man of valour” and said, “Thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites” (Judges 6:12-16).
Elder Uchtdorf added:
If we look at ourselves only through our mortal eyes, we may not see ourselves as good enough. But our Heavenly Father sees us as who we truly are and who we can become.
When Moroni struggled with feelings of inadequacy, the Lord reassured him:
I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
Ether 12:27.
Today, I will strive to see myself and the people around me as God sees us. I will overcome feelings of inadequacy by remembering that God sees my potential and is willing to help me achieve it.
