He that Believeth These Things – Ether 4:10-12

10 And he that believeth not my words believeth not my disciples; and if it so be that I do not speak, judge ye; for ye shall know that it is I that speaketh, at the last day.
11 But he that believeth these things which I have spoken, him will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit, and he shall know and bear record. For because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true; for it persuadeth men to do good.
12 And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good; he that will not believe my words will not believe me–that I am; and he that will not believe me will not believe the Father who sent me. For behold, I am the Father, I am the light, and the life, and the truth of the world.
(Ether 4:10-12)

It’s all connected. That’s the message I hear in these words of the Savior as delivered by the prophet Moroni. If you believe these words, you will believe the prophets. If you believe the prophets, you will believe the Savior. If you believe the Savior, you believe the Father. Opening your heart to one truth brings the Spirit of the Lord into your life, which will lead you to other truths.

As President Thomas S. Monson taught in the most recent General Conference of the Church:

If you will read [the Book of Mormon] prayerfully and with a sincere desire to know the truth, the Holy Ghost will manifest its truth to you. If it is true–and I solemnly testify that it is–then Joseph Smith was a prophet who saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Because the Book of Mormon is true, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s Church on the earth, and the holy priesthood of God has been restored for the benefit and blessing of His children (“The Power of the Book of Mormon,” General Conference, April 2017).

Today, I will remember the connectedness of the fundamental truths of the gospel. I will remember that a belief in the scriptures, in the words of modern prophets, and in God go hand in hand. I will believe the words of the prophets, knowing that this belief will invite the Spirit of the Lord into my heart, which will testify to me of all truth.
