His Soul Shall Never Hunger Nor Thirst – 3 Nephi 20:8

8 And he said unto them: He that eateth this bread eateth of my body to his soul; and he that drinketh of this wine drinketh of my blood to his soul; and his soul shall never hunger nor thirst, but shall be filled.

When we partake of the sacrament, we eat and drink physical food. But the bread and water represents a spiritual feast which fills a hunger in our souls. If we participate in the sacrament but fail to open our souls to the experience, we may miss the whole point of the ordinance and fail to receive its blessings.
I love the following counsel from Sister Neill F. Marriott:

When we open ourselves to the Spirit, we learn God’s way and feel His will. During the sacrament, which I call the heart of the Sabbath, I have found that after I pray for forgiveness of sins, it is instructive for me to ask Heavenly Father, “Father, is there more?” When we are yielded and still, our minds can be directed to something more we may need to change—something that is limiting our capacity to receive spiritual guidance or even healing and help (“Yielding Our Hearts to God,” General Conference, October 2015).

Today, I will prepare myself to participate in the sacrament. I will remember that the sacrament can fill my soul if I approach the experience with humility and with an open mind. As I partake of the sacrament tomorrow, I will pray for forgiveness of my sins, and then I will ask, “Father, is there more?” so that I can receive and accept the blessings Heavenly Father wants to provide.
