Ye Do Withdraw Yourselves – Mosiah 2:36

36 And now, I say unto you, my brethren, that after ye have known and have been taught all these things, if ye should transgress and go contrary to that which has been spoken, that ye do withdraw yourselves from the Spirit of the Lord, that it may have no place in you to guide you in wisdom’s paths that ye may be blessed, prospered, and preserved–

Just like our Heavenly Father, the Holy Ghost is constant. He is always ready to guide us. He won’t abandon us or fail to provide the guidance we need to be successful and safe, but we may withdraw ourselves from His influence by our own stubbornness or negligence.
Ironically, if we fail to listen because we are busy pursuing ambitious goals or averting catastrophes, we may be cutting ourselves off from the very assistance we need. We may be like Amulek, a man of “no small reputation” who “had acquired much riches,” but who had distanced himself from the power of God. After he accepted an assignment from an angel of God, he received blessings he had completely missed before. The blessings were always available, but he had separated himself from them by hardening his heart and failing to listen (Alma 10:1-11).
Today, I will seek to hear the voice of the Holy Ghost. I will remember that He is always willing to guide me, and that if I will listen, I will receive direction which will help me to achieve success and overcome the challenges I face.
