17 O the greatness and the justice of our God! For he executeth all his words, and they have gone forth out of his mouth, and his law must be fulfilled.
Because God is both perfectly just and omnipotent, we can have confidence in everything He tells us. He can fulfill His promises because of His power. He will fulfill them because He is fair and honest. The good news is that He has given us many promises. For example:
- Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you (3 Nephi 18:20).
- Behold, when ye shall rend that veil of unbelief which doth cause you to remain in your awful state of wickedness, and hardness of heart, and blindness of mind, then shall the great and marvelous things which have been hid up from the foundation of the world [be given to you] (Ether 4:15).
- Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life (2 Nephi 31:20).
Today, I will be grateful for a God who is both just and powerful, and who therefore can and will fulfill His promises.
