The Most High God

Abraham affirmed God’s supremacy by calling Him “the Most High God” in the presence of two kings. Daniel used the same title when speaking before the kings of Babylon. When the resurrected Jesus visited the Americas, the people greeted Him with that same name, recognizing His sovereignty over all nations.

Devouring Fire and Divine Mercy

In a revelation to Joseph Smith, the Lord warned that the “great and abominable church” would be cast down by "devouring fire." Echoing visions of Ezekiel and Nephi, this fire symbolizes both judgment and mercy—a pleading from God to the wayward. God loves all of His children and He defends those who follow Him.

Weak Things

The scriptures teach that God uses the weak things of the world to accomplish miracles. He does this for three reasons. 1. Weak people are more willing to accept His help. 2. Other people recognize His hand. 3. Everyone is empowered to participate.

Context and Judgment

Samuel said that God will be merciful to the Lamanites because of their firmness when they are converted. God sees not only what we do but also the context for those decisions. He also sees what we can become with the right experiences.

God has already given us far more than we could ever hope to repay, and the... Continue Reading →
