Pray in Your Families – 3 Nephi 18:21

21 Pray in your families unto the Father, always in my name, that your wives and your children may be blessed.
Why is it important that we pray with our families?

  1. We learn how to pray by listening to the prayers offered by other family members.
  2. We express love for each other by asking Heavenly Father to bless members of our family while they are listening.
  3. As Jesus promises in the passage above, Heavenly Father answers those prayers and blesses the members of our family.
  4. As Richard G. Scott taught, family prayer provides vital protection for those who participate:

Parents, help safeguard your children by arming them morning and night with the power of family prayer. Children are bombarded every day with the evils of lust, greed, pride, and a host of other sinful behaviors. Protect your children from daily worldly influences by fortifying them with the powerful blessings that result from family prayer. Family prayer should be a nonnegotiable priority in your daily life (“Make the Exercise of Your Faith Your First Priority,” General Conference, October 2014).

Today, I will review our patterns of family prayer. I will work with my family to ensure that we are praying morning and night and maximizing the opportunities for family members to participate.
