14 O Lord, thou didst hearken unto my words when I said, Let there be a famine, that the pestilence of the sword might cease; and I know that thou wilt, even at this time, hearken unto my words, for thou saidst that: If this people repent I will spare them.(Helaman 11:14)
Remembering the blessings we have received from God in the past can help us exercise faith as we today. As Howard W. Hunter taught:
We must continue to exercise confidence in God, inasmuch as that is the first prin- ciple in our code of belief. We must believe that God has all power, that he loves us, and that his work will not be stopped or frustrated in our individual lives or in the world generally. He will bless us as a people because he always has blessed us as a people. He will bless us as individuals because he always has blessed us as individuals (“An Anchor to the Souls of Men,” BYU Fireside, February 7, 1993).
Today, as I seek guidance and support from Heavenly Father, I will remember how He has answered my prayers in the past. I will let those memories bolster my faith: He will bless me today because He has always blessed me.
