4 Nephi 1:15-17 Nor Any Manner of -Ites

15 And it came to pass that there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people.
16 And there were no envyings, nor strifes, nor tumults, nor whoredoms, nor lyings, nor murders, nor any manner of lasciviousness; and surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.
17 There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of -ites; but they were in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God.
(4 Nephi 1:15-17)
As human beings, we have a tendency to divide into groups and to band together with those whom we perceive to have common interests with us.  This tendency is good, because it impels us to develop relationships with other people and to develop the qualities associated with healthy relationships, including patience, forgiveness, and humility.  However, dividing into groups can also result in negative behaviors: clannishness, arrogance, and dismissiveness of those who are not part of our groups.
It is encouraging to note that proximity to the Savior magnified the positive social attributes of the people and eradicated the negative ones.
As I interact with others today, I’ll make an effort to see everyone as children of God and as my brothers and sisters. I will make an effort to reach outside of my comfort zone and pay attention to those whom I would not normally interact with.
