For twenty-two years, Zeniff and his people enjoy peace. During that time, they are busy preparing: forging weapons, growing food, sewing clothing, and spying on their enemies. After King Laman dies, his son decides to attack Zeniff’s people again, but they are prepared, physically and spiritually, to defend themselves.

Zeniff and his people were able do defend themselves because they fought “in the strength of the Lord.” When they later relied on their own strength, they were conquered. We need God’s enabling power in order to overcome challenges and achieve our goals.
