When Helaman becomes the chief judge, Kishkumen attempts to assassinate him, just has he did Helaman’s predecessor. However, a servant of Helaman thwarts the attempt and kills Kishkumen. Helaman tries to capture the people who had collaborated with Kishkumen, but they escape, following their new leader, Gadianton. Mormon emphasizes the importance of this event: “Ye shall see that this Gadianton did prove the overthrow…of the people of Nephi.”

My Takeaways
- Never prioritize loyalty to a group over loyalty to the truth. Avoid any form of dishonesty, particularly when it serves to prevent people from being accountable for their actions.
