Moroni is encouraged by Helaman’s epistle, and he writes to Pahoran, the chief judge, requesting reinforcements be sent to Helaman. Soon afterward, however, tragedy strikes as the Lamanites take possession of the city of Nephihah. Moroni begins to doubt whether his people have the faith to win this war.
