General Conference

Isaiah said, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!” (Isaiah 52:7). When the priests of King Noah challenged Abinadi to explain that passage, he said that “all the holy prophets ever since the world began” are the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy:

These are they who have published peace, who have brought good tidings of good, who have published salvation; and said unto Zion: Thy God reigneth!

And O how beautiful upon the mountains were their feet!

And again, how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that are still publishing peace!

And again, how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who shall hereafter publish peace, yea, from this time henceforth and forever!

Mosiah 15:13-17

Every six months, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world gather virtually to hear church leaders preach the gospel. We receive instruction from President Russell M. Nelson, his counselors, the twelve apostles, and other church leaders. This gathering is called general conference, and it will be held this Saturday and Sunday.

Any time we have the opportunity to hear prophets of God, our own preparation is key. Alma was delighted to teach the poor among the Zoramites, because “he beheld…that they were in a preparation to hear the word” (Alma 32:6). Here are some blog posts that may be useful to you in your preparation to hear the word of the Lord:

This week, I will prepare to hear the word of God in general conference. I will strive to be receptive to the messages of prophets, and I will be grateful for their efforts to publish peace, to bring good tidings, and to declare to us that God is alive today.
