Gathered Together…Round About the Temple – 3 Nephi 11:1

1 And now it came to pass that there were a great multitude gathered together, of the people of Nephi, round about the temple which was in the land Bountiful; and they were marveling and wondering one with another, and were showing one to another the great and marvelous change which had taken place.

In times of uncertainty or tragedy, people of faith gravitate to places of refuge and reverence. No wonder that the ancient inhabitants of America gathered at the temple in Bountiful immediately following the destruction which signalled the death of Jesus Christ. At the temple, they were able to comfort one another and help one another interpret the events they had just experienced. Was it any surprise that the Savior appeared at this place? Those who were instinctively drawn to the temple were the first to see Him and interact with Him.
Today, I will remember the roles of the temple in my life. I will be grateful for the association with good people, the clarity of mind, and the healing of heart I experience there. Above all, I will remember that the temple is the house of the Lord, and that when I visit His house, I can draw closer to Him.
