6 And thus being called by this holy calling, and ordained unto the high priesthood of the holy order of God, to teach his commandments unto the children of men, that they also might enter into his rest—
Jesus said, “whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it” (Mark 8:35). An important purpose of the priesthood, as Alma teaches in the verse above, is to give us opportunities to lose ourselves in the service of others. By teaching and serving them, we find the very peace we are trying to help them find.
Today, I will take advantage of the opportunities I am given for priesthood service. I will remember that the peace and joy of the gospel will come as I get outside of myself and share the gospel with others.
