And Witness unto Thee – Moroni 4:3

3 O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it; that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he hath given them, that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.

Yesterday, I wrote about the importance of receiving the Holy Ghost in order to be able to do the work of the Lord effectively. In the sacrament prayers, we learn what we need to do to qualify for the companionship of the Holy Ghost:
  1. Take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ.
  2. Always remember Him.
  3. Keep His commandments.
I’m grateful that we are able to participate in this ordinance every week. As we eat the bread and drink the water, we “witness,” or attest, that we intend to act in a way which will unlock the power of the Holy Ghost in our lives.
Today, I will remember the covenants I have made, and I will strive to live up to the sacramental covenant, so that I can receive the promised blessing.
