1 Nephi 18:2 It Was Not After the Manner of Men

2 Now I, Nephi, did not work the timbers after the manner which was learned by men, neither did I build the ship after the manner of men; but I did build it after the manner which the Lord had shown unto me; wherefore, it was not after the manner of men.
We know that God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts and that His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9).  Knowing this, we should not be surprised if he directs us to do things differently than we would have done them on our own. Truthfully, there is no point in seeking His guidance if we are only looking for an affirmation of our own habitual patterns of thought.
