2 And Ether was a prophet of the Lord; wherefore Ether came forth in the days of Coriantumr, and began to prophesy unto the people, for he could not be restrained because of the Spirit of the Lord which was in him.
3 For he did cry from the morning, even until the going down of the sun, exhorting the people to believe in God unto repentance lest they should be destroyed, saying unto them that by faith all things are fulfilled—

Ether was a descendant of kings. His grandfather, Moron, was dethroned twice, and his father, Coriantor, “dwelt in captivity all his days” (Ether 11:16). But Ether had no ambitions to reclaim the lost glory of his family. Hearing the words of many prophets, Ether became converted to the Lord and became a prophet himself. Moroni tells us in the passage above that Ether “could not be restrained because of the Spirit of the Lord which was in him” and that he “did cry from the morning, even until the going down of the sun.” His eagerness reminds me of the sons of Mosiah, who “could not bear that any human soul should perish” after their conversion to the gospel, and who pleaded with their father, King Mosiah, to let them preach to their enemies, the Lamanites (Mosiah 28:3-5).
Today, I will strive to emulate the enthusiasm of Ether and the sons of Mosiah. I will invite the Spirit of the Lord into my life, knowing that He will fill me with the desire to share the gospel with others. Like Ether, I will act on that desire, taking every opportunity that I am given to share the truths I have come to know by the Spirit of the Lord.
