Rebellions and coups: the brother of Jared was right that monarchy would lead to captivity. Jared’s son Orihah reigns in peace, but his son, Kib, is taken captive by his own son Corihor. Another of Kib’s sons, Shule, conquers Corihor and frees his father, but one of Corihor’s sons, Noah, subsequently establishes a rival kingdom during Shule’s reign. After the kingdoms are reunited by Noah’s grandson, many prophets preach repentance. Shule protects the prophets, and the people repent.
