Relentless

God's love for us is unwavering. Eight times in Zenos's Allegory of the Olive Tree, the Lord of the Vineyard says, "It grieveth me that I should lose this tree." Elder Patrick Kearon testified, "God is in relentless pursuit of you."

Nephi’s Vision and Nephi’s Prophecy

Many themes from Nephi's vision (1 Nephi 11-14) also appear in Nephi's prophecy (2 Nephi 25-30): 1. Jesus Christ would be crucified. 2. Nephi's descendants would write scripture. 3. God will do a work which will bless the whole world.

The Remnant Shall Return

Isaiah's prophecy about the remnant of Israel returning to God assures that no matter how far they are from home, they are not out of God's sight. Book of Mormon authors echo this sentiment: God is mindful of you, wherever you are, and you can come home.

“Which Sheddeth Itself Abroad”

Nephi and Paul both testified that God's love is "shed abroad in our hearts." Like light from the sun, God's love shines on all of His children. We can open our hearts to receive that love, and we can in turn share that love with others.

Jesus Christ Is the Tree

Nephi tells us that the tree in his father's dream represents "the love of God." He learns this by watching scenes from the life of Jesus. Elder Bednar that the tree represents Jesus Christ Himself, the ultimate manifestation of God's love for us.

Freely

John says that each of us can partake of the water of life freely. Alma extended the same invitation to the people in Zarahemla and later to his son Corianton. God offers blessings to His children abundantly, and He invites us to come and receive them.

God With Us

Isaiah prophesied that a virgin would bear a son and call him "Immanuel," which means "God with us." As Abinadi testified, God Himself came to earth. Jesus fulfilled that prophecy. We are not only walking toward God and Christ. We are walking with Them.

The First Great Truth

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland explained that while the first great commandment is to love God, the first great truth is that He loves us. John wrote, "We love him, because he first loved us." His love motivates us to love Him and to love other people.

Apostasy and Restoration

Patterns of apostasy and restoration are an example of God's grace. Left to ourselves, we tend to drift, both collectively and individually. But God loves His children, and He provides infusions of knowledge and invitations to act, because He loves us.

His Offspring

We are all children of God. We have not only a divine heritage but also a divine potential. An awareness of that fact can give us confidence as we navigate the challenges of life, confidence that our Heavenly Father loves us and wants to bless us.
