An angel told John that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. The only way we can be sure that Jesus is our Savior is by direct, personal revelation from God. Therefore, the people who have that testimony are the people who receive revelation.
Unshaken
Haggai prophesied that all things will shake and that only unshakable things will remain. Several Book of Mormon prophets taught us that we can develop "unshaken" faith, which will enable us to endure significant turbulence.
Good Things to Come
Disciples of Jesus Christ embrace promises which have not yet been fulfilled and move forward with confidence. We visualize a bright future and trust in the Savior, who Paul called our "high priest of good things to come."
Vain Jangling – Part 1
Paul warned Timothy and Titus against engaging in time-wasting conversations on low-priority topics. He urged them instead to focus on "sound doctrine." We ought to focus on the most important truths and avoid taking the easy path.
Firstfruits
God commanded ancient Israel to bring their first crops each year to His house. Why were those crops considered holy? Because they represented the Savior, "the firstfruits of them that slept." Jesus overcame death so that all of us can rise from the dead.
Atonement and Reconciliation
To be "at one with" someone is to be in a state of agreement and peace. Jesus made it possible for our relationship with God to be healed, and one word for that reconciliation is "atonement," the gift which enables us to be "at one" with God.
Truth and Soberness
Paul told Festus that his words were "of truth and soberness." Words of truth are in harmony with reality. Words of soberness are disciplined and serious. The sons of Helaman were "men of truth and soberness." Their courage was governed by reason.
“Search the Prophets”
The Book of Mormon prophet Jacob declared that all prophets have testified of Jesus Christ. Peter taught the same after the ascension of Jesus Christ. Studying the words of prophets helps us develop faith in Jesus Christ.
What Is Truth? What Is True?
Pilate asked, "What is truth?" Sherem expressed similar doubt: "No man knoweth...of things to come." But Jacob testified, "The Spirit speaketh the truth," and added, "These things are manifested unto us plainly." Disciples of Jesus seek and embrace truth.
The Cornerstone
Jesus Christ is our cornerstone, our sure foundation. If we center our lives on Him, we will be well-supported. But even if we reject Him, all is not lost. He is patient and merciful and ready to be our foundation as soon as we are ready to accept Him.
