Letters to the Seven Churches

John wrote letters to seven congregations of the church. In those letters, he described the Savior, gave feedback, and listed some blessings of exaltation. Taken together, the letters can motivate us to repent and receive the blessings God offers us.

“I Stand at the Door and Knock”

Jesus said, "Knock, and it shall be opened to you." In the book of Revelation, John takes this promise one step further: Jesus is knocking on our door. He is not only willing to answer us, He is already speaking to us. Even before we ask, we can listen.

No Darkness

John testified, "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." Nephi declared, "The Lord God worketh not in darkness." When the light of Christ shines in our hearts, the darkness surrounding us no longer prevents us from moving forward.

Shepherd and Bishop

Peter called Jesus "the Shepherd and Bishop of [our] souls." He added that we should "feed the flock of God," under the leadership of "the chief Shepherd. President Nelson called us the Savior's true undershepherds, looking after His sheep as He would do.

Her Perfect Work

"Let patience have her perfect work," says James. When you go through a trial, remember that it will end when its purpose is accomplished. Let the trial do its job, proving you and stretching you as part of God's plan for your happiness.

Think Celestial!

Paul urged the Colossians to prioritize heavenly goals over earthly desires. This message is echoed in the teachings of Jesus and the Book of Mormon. President Russell M. Nelson has invited us to "think celestial," framing decisions in an eternal context.

“Changed into the Same Image”

As we focus on the Savior, trust in His grace, and strive to emulate Him, we gradually become more and more like Him. We may not notice the change from day to day, but little by little, we receive His image in our countenances.

Where You Want Me to Go

Missionaries adapt to new assignments regularly. Paul and Barnabas traveled to many cities and quickly began serving the people as they arrived. Alma did the same. We can follow their example by being willing to adapt to guidance we receive from God.

Paul Rebukes Elymas

Disciples of Jesus Christ are builders, not destroyers. They are healers, not wounders. They are advocates, not antagonists. Satan is our adversary, and his mission is defined by what he opposes. In contrast, we should pursue uplifting goals.

Wedding Garments and Extra Oil

In two of Jesus's parables, people are punished harshly for seemingly minor infractions: dressing inappropriately or running out of supplies. Important events require careful preparation, so we must be particularly careful in our preparations to meet God.
