Home

Three lessons about our homes from the Book of Mormon: 1. We need a place of peace and security for ourselves and for our families. 2. We ought to invite other people into our homes. 3. Sometimes, we need to leave our homes and serve people where they are

Helaman 5 and 3 Nephi

The miracle experienced by Nephi and Lehi in the Lamanite prison mirrors the experience of the Nephites and the Lamanites when the Savior visited. Both experiences teach us that we have access to divine power and help when we open our hearts to God.

“The Middle Wall of Partition”

The Atonement of Jesus Christ not only breaks down barriers between us and God, it also breaks down barriers between people. Paul said that Jesus "hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us." He can help us become unified.

Atonement and Reconciliation

To be "at one with" someone is to be in a state of agreement and peace. Jesus made it possible for our relationship with God to be healed, and one word for that reconciliation is "atonement," the gift which enables us to be "at one" with God.

“That They May Also Be One”

Unity is very important to Jesus. At the Last Supper, He urged His apostles to be one. In His visit to the American continent, He made the same plea. His living representatives on the earth have also urged us to overcome contention and become one.

A House Divided

God seeks to bring people together. Satan seeks to divide us, because we are easier to conquer when we're alone. Jesus taught that a house divided cannot stand. We can follow Him by bringing people together instead of separating them.

Baptized with Fire

John the Baptist described the effect of the Holy Ghost with a striking metaphor: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. Matthew 3:11; see also Luke 3:16 As far as I know, that is the only place... Continue Reading →

The Living Christ and the Book of Mormon

The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles is a proclamation published by leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 1 January 2000. The document speaks of the Savior's mission before birth, during His mortal ministry, and after His death and resurrection, including in our day. It also testifies that He... Continue Reading →

Unity

On the last full day of His mortal life, the Savior gathered His disciples for a meal. He washed their feet. He instituted the ordinance of the sacrament. He taught them and answered their questions. And then, He prayed for them and for all people who would believe their words: That they all may be one;... Continue Reading →
