Resurrected bodies are tangible, just like our mortal bodies. But they are also different in some ways. After His resurrection, Jesus was not constrained by walls, was not always recognizable, and was able to ascend to heaven.
“That He May Sift You”
Satan, our adversary, tries to separate us. Jesus called it "sifting us as wheat." He urged all of us to thwart Satan's efforts by remaining faithful to God, strengthening one another, and being patient and kind to one another.
Women in the Gospels
Here are some lessons I have learned from women who knew Jesus: Mary, mother of Jesus: Ponder things in your heart. The Samaritan woman: Testify and invite. Mary, Martha's sister: Choose the good part. Mary Magdalene: Come to the tomb.
A Great Division
Jesus wants us to have peace, but there were divisions among the people who saw and heard Him. Sometimes our words provoke division. Sometimes winning an argument is more important to us than the topic. We should heal divisions, not exacerbate them.
“That They May Also Be One”
Unity is very important to Jesus. At the Last Supper, He urged His apostles to be one. In His visit to the American continent, He made the same plea. His living representatives on the earth have also urged us to overcome contention and become one.
The Zeal of Thine House
Jesus felt strongly about treating the temple with reverence. When He drove out the moneychangers, His apostles remembered the words of David, "The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up." Our reverence for the temple reflects our reverence for God.
“The Will of My Father”
A defining characteristic of the Savior's life was His commitment to fulfill His Father's will. Both during and after His ministry, He affirmed this commitment. We can follow His example by prioritizing God's will even when it's difficult.
A House Divided
God seeks to bring people together. Satan seeks to divide us, because we are easier to conquer when we're alone. Jesus taught that a house divided cannot stand. We can follow Him by bringing people together instead of separating them.
Baptized with Fire
John the Baptist described the effect of the Holy Ghost with a striking metaphor: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. When our Father in Heaven has introduced Jesus Christ, He has consistently called Him, "my Beloved Son." We can follow this example by expressing love for our family members regularly.
