The Melchizedek Priesthood enables us to have the heavens opened to us. Numerous visions in the scriptures are described as the heavens being opened, but it can also happen in more quiet, personal ways, enabling us to receive knowledge, commune with God, and participate in His miraculous work.
My Education Plan
Solomon urged us, "With all thy getting, get understanding." Nephi praised his parents for teaching him "in all [their] learning." And in modern revelation, the Lord instructed us to "seek learning, even by study and also by faith." This counsel applies to us at every stage of life. We need to organize our ongoing education.
“All Men [and Women] Everywhere”
God's universal love is manifest in many ways. One of those ways is via a universal commandment to repent. This commandment is really an invitation to change and experience His healing and transformative power.
“You Have Heard My Voice and Know My Words.”
We may receive a spiritual confirmation after studying the scriptures or while we read. Oliver Cowdery received a confirmation multiple times as he transcribed the Book of Mormon for the first time. The Lord taught him that, when we receive that confirmation, we have heard His voice.
“Above the Brightness of the Sun”
The Restoration began with a burst of light chasing away the darkness. Not ordinary darkness, but "thick darkness." Not ordinary light, but a pillar of light "above the brightness of the sun." God's light can dispel even the thickest of darkness.
