“The Foundation of My Church”

The church of Christ is built on a simple set of doctrines which are listed in 3 Nephi 27 and Doctrine and Covenants 18. We can follow the Savior's example by sharing these doctrines concisely, without unnecessary elaboration.

“Built Upon My Gospel”

Jesus said that we are prepared to face the storms of life when we are built upon His gospel. That means that we must be willing to repent and to participate in ordinances, following the Lord's instructions instead of our own preferences.

Virtuous Cycles

President Russell M. Nelson taught that the gospel of Jesus Christ produces a virtuous cycle in our lives. Alma gave one example: as we open our hearts, God reveals truth to us a little at a time. Repeated actions can bring incremental growth over time.

Knowing, Loving, Living, Being

In his epistles, John teaches that different aspects of our discipleship are integrated. He makes numerous statements of equivalence, equating loving God with knowing Him, loving others, and following Him. Here is a diagram illustrating these equivalences

The angel who appeared to King Benjamin declared that his message would bring joy to Benjamin and to his people: I am come to declare unto you the glad tidings of great joy. For the Lord hath heard thy prayers, and hath judged of thy righteousness, and hath sent me to declare unto thee that... Continue Reading →

What Is the Fulness of the Gospel?

He said there was a book deposited, written upon gold plates, giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent, and the source from whence they sprang. He also said that the fulness of the everlasting Gospel was contained in it, as delivered by the Savior to the ancient inhabitants. (Joseph Smith-History 1:34) The... Continue Reading →
