Preparing for General Conference

Every April and October, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds a worldwide general conference. The upcoming conference on April 4-5 will be special. It will mark 200 years since Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in a grove of trees in Palmyra, New York.

Last October, President Russell M. Nelson invited us to prepare ourselves for a spiritual experience this April.

Here are some things that I am doing to prepare myself for general conference:

  1. Studying Joseph Smith’s account of the First Vision and pondering the significance of this event in my life.
  2. Reading Doctrine and Covenants sections 84 and 107 to better understand the priesthood.
  3. Pondering the role of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in my life.
  4. Compiling a list of questions I have and challenges I face, to help me listen more intently for the guidance I need.
