6 And now, my beloved son, notwithstanding their hardness, let us labor diligently; for if we should cease to labor, we should be brought under condemnation; for we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God.

Mormon teaches his son Moroni an important lesson in this verse: even if the people we are called to teach are not receptive to our message, we must not give up on them. We must continue to serve them and love them. The obligation to teach is not reduced by the indifference of the students. When we are called by God to teach His gospel, we must continue to work and hope for positive outcomes in the lives of our students, even when the short-term outcomes are not encouraging.
Today, I will persist in teaching the gospel, even when I don’t see the immediate fruit of my labors. I will remember that I “have a labor to perform,” and that the Lord expects me to continue to perform it, regardless of the immediate reactions of my listeners.
