With Exactness – Alma 57:21

21 Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words which they said unto me that their mothers had taught them.

Helaman led a group of remarkable young men into war, so that their fathers could keep a covenant they had made not to fight. Miraculously, these young men all survived several intense battles in which many others were killed. Helaman attributed this miracle to their great faith, as evidenced by their exact obedience to his commands.
If we are going to obey the commandments of God, we ought to obey them with precision. Why make the effort to obey only some of the commandments or to obey them carelessly? Of course we will fall short and will need the grace of God to support us, but our commitment and our desire should be for completeness and accuracy in obeying His commandments.
Today, I will consider what I can do to be more exactly obedient. I will identify areas where I may be casual or sloppy, and I will recommit to “obey every word of command with exactness.”
