The Greater Things – Ether 4:13-14

13 Come unto me, O ye Gentiles, and I will show unto you the greater things, the knowledge which is hid up because of unbelief.
14 Come unto me, O ye house of Israel, and it shall be made manifest unto you how great things the Father hath laid up for you, from the foundation of the world; and it hath not come unto you, because of unbelief.
We have been taught to ask Heavenly Father for specific blessings when we pray. We have learned that He loves us and is eager to bless us just as a parent loves to give good gifts to their children.
In these verses, Moroni reminds us that God has gifts for us which we aren’t even aware of. Only by exercising faith in Him can we uncover and receive those blessings, which are greater than anything we would have requested on our own.
Today, I will believe in God. I will remember that His gifts for me are far greater than anything on my “wish list.” I will trust Him to give me the greatest gifts that I am able to receive.

  1. Great post. How much more could we know and understand, individually and collectively, if we cast out unbelief and demonstrated faith in spirit and action? It's interesting that these verses allude blessings laid up from the foundation of the world, that are only contingent upon believing. Reminiscent of John 20:27- be not faithless, but believing. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thank you for that additional insight. Heavenly Father clearly wants us to develop faith. His greatest blessings aren't even detectable until we choose to “rend that veil of unbelief” as Moroni says in verse 15 of Ether 4. We have to choose to believe.
